Juventus defender Jean Alain Boumsong is attracting
interest from Liverpool.
Tuttosport says Liverpool have made a late move for the Frenchman, who has
been made available by Juve this summer.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez needs to find cover after losing Jamie Carragher to a
rib injury and selling Gabriel Paletta to Boca Juniors.

Rafa eyes Brazilian ace
By Graeme Bailey - Sky Sports
Liverpool have joined Roma in the hunt for Brazilian ace
Cicinho, according to reports in Spain.
The Brazilian full-back appears to have been pushed down the pecking order
at Real Madrid under new coach Bernd Schuster.
Michel Salgado and Sergio Ramos have been used on the right during most of
Real's pre-season to date, and Cicinho realises he could be due for a season
of bench-warming if he stays at The Bernabeu.
Roma first showed an interest last month but have yet to strike a deal for
the 27-year-old.
However, Liverpool have now been alerted and it has been claimed that Rafa
Benitez has made contact.
Benitez wants competition on his right side and after seemingly cooling his
interest in Sevilla's Daniel Alves - Cicinho appears to be an attractive
alternative.
Roma were believed to be looking into a possible loan, but it seems a The
Reds could bid 10 million euros (£6.8million) - which the Eternal City side
would not match.
One possible problem for Liverpool could be the fact that Cicinho is
reported to have told Real that he would rather move to Italy than England.

Fulham told to increase
Liverpool defender bid
fulhamweb.com
Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez has been told to up his
£1million offer for Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia.
The Finland centre half, a close friend of Fulham keeper Antti Niemi, is
keen to move to Craven Cottage for regular football and Sanchez is desperate
for an experienced centre-back.
But Sanchez does not want to match Liverpool’s £2.5m valuation for a player
who is 33 and out of contract next summer.

Rafa's back-up plan
Clubcall Sports
Rafa Benitez is believed to be considering a move for
Celta Vigo's Diego Placente if Liverpool fail in attempts
to sign Gabriel Heinze.
The Reds are waiting on further developments in the Heinze saga, which is
likely to step up a pace next week when the Argentinian returns to Old
Trafford for pre-season training.
It could be a long drawn out affair if Manchester United stick by their
original stance of insisting Heinze won't be allowed to move to Anfield,
leaving Liverpool thinking about possible alternatives.
Heinze's fellow Argentinian Placente is one option, with Benitez understood
to be a big fan of the former Bayer Leverkusen defender.
The 30-year-old, who has played against the Reds in the Champions League, is
understood to be seeking a move after Celta Vigo's relegation from La Liga.
