Pourie seals Germany return
Striker Marvin Pourie is back in his native Germany after joining Schalke from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
The teenager joined The Reds' academy in the summer of 2007 and had been a consistent scorer for Hughie McAuley's Under-18s side.
However, after failing to make the breakthrough at the Premier League giants the former Borussia Dortmund youngster has been allowed to leave.
Pourie has signed a four-a-half-year contract with Schalke that ties him to the Veltins-Arena outfit until the summer of 2013.
The 17-year-old, who won his first youth international cap for his country while at Anfield, will train with Schalke's first team but is expected to play in their Under-19s side for now.

the team.
"I have been very frustrated at not being able to play but the lads have been in great form and the results they have achieved have kept my spirits up.
"The relationship I have with the fans is special. I know that.
"When I was injured to hear them still singing their song was special. I could hear it on the TV when I was at home. It's fantastic."

Benitez: Dossena not for sale
Rafael Benitez has moved to dampen speculation about Andrea Dossena's Liverpool future and insists that the defender is very much part of his plans.
The Italian, signed from Udinese last summer, has failed to make an impact since arriving at Anfield but Benitez insists that the left back does have a future at the club.
"I am not considering selling Dossena," said the manager.
"I think it is important to keep the squad together."

Johnson close to Pompey stay
Glen Johnson is on the brink of committing his long-term future to Portsmouth and Tony Adams is also confident of securing new contracts for Sean Davis and Richard Hughes.
Johnson’s future has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks with both Liverpool and Tottenham rumoured to be interested in a player who has cemented his place in the England squad in recent months.
Reports had even claimed that the right back had been spotted at Liverpool’s Melwood training facilities in anticipation of a January move but Pompey swiftly rubbished such claims.
And while Lassana Diarra has joined Real Madrid and Jermain Defoe is closing in on a return to Spurs, Adams is confident of keeping hold of the marauding full back.
"The deal is 90 percent completed," said Adams.
"He's fighting fit at the moment and I'm delighted to welcome him back. He's a player that I want here for a good time."

MONDAY 5
Insua heads off on international duty
Liverpool will be without the services of Emiliano Insua for the next month due to his participation in the Under-20 South American Championships with Argentina in Venezuela.
The left back, who has started the last four matches in the first team, will be away until February 8 meaning he won't be available for this weekend's game with Stoke, the double header with Everton, the trip to Wigan or the Anfield clash with Chelsea.
Joining Insua in the tournament will be reserve defender Ronald Huth who will be representing Paraguay.
The tournament runs from January 19 until February 8, and is staged every two years.
Argentina have won it four times, the last being in 2003.

Rafa: Don't get up for cup tie yet
Rafael Benitez has warned Liverpool must contain their anticipation over the Merseyside derby FA Cup tie with arch rivals Everton.
Liverpool and Everton will clash twice in a week, in the Premier League on January 19 and then in the fourth round of the cup the following weekend.
With both games at Anfield, Benitez knows a crucial stage beckons in Liverpool's quest for both the league title and cup.
He told the club's official website: "It is a draw which will excite everyone in the city, because everyone knows about the great rivalry that exists between the two clubs.
"But we must remember that we have some big games coming up in the league before the cup tie - and we will be taking one game at a time.
"Only when the cup game comes around will it become our focus. Before then we play Stoke and Everton in the league, so we must keep our attention on those matches.
"But it is good to have so many important matches, because it shows that your team is doing well."

Torres return will boost Reds
Fernando Torres' return to fitness is a huge boost says Jamie Carragher.
Torres made a goalscoring return as a subsitute against Preston on Saturday following five weeks out with a hamstring injury. Jamie Carragher believes the striker's return will give everyone at the club a boost as they look to maintain their position as Premiership leaders.
"Having Torres back has given everyone a big lift. It is great when you see a player of that calibre coming back for the second half of the season," said the vice-captain.

Torres glad to be back
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is hoping his injury troubles are over after marking his comeback with a goal.
Torres had been sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring complaint, but came on as a substitute in Saturday's FA Cup tie at Preston North End.
"Always it is frustrating when you are not playing and missing games," Torres told the Liverpool Daily Post.
"You want to be out there helping your team-mates and working hard, but the injury is in the past now."

Hobbs not worried about future
Centre-back Jack Hobbs is not worrying about his future at Liverpool, as he believes his loan spell at Leicester City is helping him to develop as a player.
The 20-year old is tipped as a bright prospect for the future and despite playing just three minutes of professional football for Lincoln City before being signed by Liverpool in 2005, he has already played five first-team games for the club.
The promising defender has made 26 appearances for the Foxes after joining the League One club on a season-long loan.
"My main aim is to do well for Leicester and then I will go back to Liverpool in the summer," Hobbs said. "I'm here until the end of the season and I'm in a winning side.
"I'm developing well as a player. I can't tell you what will happen in the future, but I'm just focused on this season.
"I've got another year at Liverpool and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Mellor: Gerrard
better than Ronaldo

Preston striker Neil Mellor hailed Steven Gerrard's contribution for Liverpool in their FA Cup victory on Saturday.
Neil Mellor, who has remained close friends with the England midfielder since ending his seven-year stay at Liverpool, said: "As soon as he gets on the football pitch, that's Steven Gerrard for you.
"The way he put one on a plate for Torres just proves that. He could have been selfish, but it was a brilliant captain's performance.
"I think he's the best in the world when you take everything into consideration. I know Cristiano Ronaldo is a great individual player but Gerrard has everything. He doesn't have a bad game.
"He can play five or six different positions and still looks the best player on the pitch. There are not that many players in the world who have that sort of versatility and quality."

SUNDAY 4
Capello: Gerrard a bad example
Fabio Capello is reported in a section of the Italian media to have been critical of Steven Gerrard's 'recent behaviour' after warning Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo not to follow suit of the England international.
Montolivo has spoken in the past of his admiration for the Liverpool captain who has found himself compromised after an alleged altercation at a nightclub.
Gerrard has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray in connection with the incident.
“Let’s hope he [Montolivo] doesn’t want to imitate Gerrard in every way, especially with regards to recent behaviour,” England manager Capello is quoted as saying on firenzeviola.it.
The Football Association insist, however, that the claims made against Gerrard will have no bearing on his England selection.
