Kewell hails Aussie spirit
Australia forward Harry Kewell hailed his side's spirit and
determination as they struck three times in the last six
minutes to beat Japan 3-1 in Kaiserslautern.
Tim Cahill netted twice, before John Aloisi put the seal on
a first-ever World Cup finals win for the Socceroos, with
Kewell delighted with his side's late show.
He said: "We've got a never-say-die attitude and we've got a
strong squad.
"We gave away a goal that was maybe dubious, but Tim got two
great goals and John capped off a wonderful performance by
us.
"They (Japan) dug in deep and they made it difficult, but we
kept on going and we knew we would take it.
"It was a bit of brilliance from Tim that got us in front."

Hamann agonising over Reds future
DIdi Hamann today spoke of his agonising decision as he
contemplates an Anfield exit.
The German international has confirmed he'll meet Bolton
this week having been told his first team chances would be
limited next season.
However, Hamann insists he's not yet made a final decision
on his future.
"I'm deciding what's the best thing to do," said the German.
"My heart is with Liverpool, but obviously I have to
consider everything I've been told and do what's right.
"The decision to sell me has not entirely come as a shock to
me, but deciding whether to go or not is very hard for me.
"I'll be back in England later this week and that's when
I'll decide whether to go to Bolton. They're the only club
which have shown any interest.

Gerrard: We need to kill them off
Steven Gerrard insists that England need to score more goals
and kill off the opposition if they want to go on to win the
World Cup.
"We've got to learn to go on and get two or three to kill
teams off and make it easier towards the end," said the
Liverpool skipper.
"We had high intensity in the first half but it was so
difficult to do it for 90 minutes. It's impossible.
"After five minutes the heat starts to take control and it
was really difficult towards
the end."

Houllier: I was hoping to sign Cisse
Former treble-winner Gerard Houllier has admitted that he
was hoping to welcome Djbril Cisse to his Lyon side before
the flamboyant forward suffered a leg-break.
Despite his chairman Jean Aulas claiming that his team did
not need another damn striker, Houllier was definitely keen
to re-sign the last player he signed for Liverpool.
"To have one bad leg break is unlucky for any player, but
this was Cisse's second since he left Auxerre for Liverpool
less than two years ago with a determination to take his
career to a higher level," Houllier wrote in the Telegraph.
"He came to England at my invitation, although circumstances
were to dictate that I left as he arrived."
"In fact I had been hoping to extend a belated welcome to
him after the World Cup, for we at Lyon were the favourites,
along with Marseille, to sign Cisse for the new season."
"Now we await his return to fitness, which could be around
Christmas."

Camoranesi could be available cheap
Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has been today linked
with a move to Anfield.
Juventus could be relegated due to recent revelations
regarding match fixing, which could see them drop to Serie B
or even lower, which would spell the start of most of the
top players leaving.

Gerrard: England felt the heat
Steven Gerrard revealed how the England players had suffered
in the second half because of the intense heat during their
1-0 win over Paraguay.
England got off to a flying start with a Carlos Gamarra own
goal from David Beckham's third-minute free-kick but, after
a bright first-half performance, they faded badly after the
break.
"It was very difficult out there," Gerrard said.
"There were a lot of players suffering with blisters. It was
very hot.
"But we've got some days now to recover. Our next few games
are in the evenings when it will be cooler and that will
suit us better. You'll see an improvement I'm sure.
"It was disappointing that we weren't two or three up by
half-time. In the second half we came under pressure but we
stuck together and we're happy with the clean sheet and the
win."
Gerrard, asked about Michael Owen's withdrawal in the second
half, added: "Michael worked very hard for an hour. He is
fighting for that match fitness and I'm sure it will come
very soon."

comments," said spokesman Andreas Herren. "We cannot comment
on individual cases although this will be dealt with in due
course."
