Jol vows to attack at Anfield
Head coach Martin Jol reckons Tottenham are better placed this season to emulate Luton's tactics when they take on Liverpool over the weekend.
Spurs took the lead twice at Anfield last season before Liverpool grabbed a share of the spoils.
"Last season we did well at Anfield and in my time we've always had draws against Liverpool," said Jol.
"We were on the fringe of winning there last season, we were 1-0 up and 2-1 up but they equalised twice.
"Liverpool have a quality side with quality players on the bench. You can't give the ball away because if you do you will be under pressure all the time.
"We need to have a go at them, like Luton did in the FA Cup. Luton attacked them and used all that energy but Liverpool still had the quality to come back and score five goals," he added on the club's official website.

Liverpool set to be honoured
Liverpool are set to receive belated recognition for their Champions League victory in the Queen's Birthday Honous after missing out in the New Year's list.
Among the players, skipper Steven Gerrard should receive at least an MBE in June while manager Rafael Benitez can expect an honorary OBE - the same award his predecessor Gerard Houllier and Arsenal's Arsene Wenger have received in the past.
It is also possible Jamie Carragher, the other Englishman in the team that beat AC Milan last May, may also be honoured.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry said this week he was "staggered" the Reds had been ignored.
However, a source close to the honours process said Liverpool's omission in the New Year's list was more a mistake rather than a deliberate decision.
He told PA Sport: "It was more of a cock-up than a conspiracy but there are two honours lists a year and it is expected that Liverpool will receive due recognition in the next one."

Liverpool sign new keeper

Liverpool have completed the signing of 19-year-old Milton Keynes Dons goalkeeper David Martin for an undisclosed fee.
Former West Ham defender Alvin Martin's son has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the Reds.
"David has earned a wonderful move to Liverpool and it was impossible to stand in his way," said Dons boss Danny Wilson.
"It's a tremendous testament to the boy himself and the coaching staff and it will be very interesting to see how he does at Anfield."

Agger signs for Reds
Daniel Agger today penned a four-and-a-half year Liverpool contract.
And delighted Anfield boss Rafa Benitez revealed how Agger's 'hunger' to join the Reds sealed his £5.8m transfer from Brondby.
Agger successfully completed a medical last night.
The Dane joined his first training session at Melwood this morning prior to being unveiled by the the club this afternoon.
His purchase ends Benitez's much publicised hunt for central defensive reinforcements, but it may not be the manager's final move in the transfer market this January.
The ECHO understands a considerable chunk of the final £5.8m fee is dependent on Agger's appearances.
The Dane must play at least 100 times for the Reds before Brondby receive the full amount.
The Spanish boss was linked with several names since last August, but he insisted today Agger was always top of the wanted list.
"By the time the January window opened , Daniel was our first choice." said Benitez.

Reds upset at honours snub
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has branded the Government's failure to recognise the club's Champions League heroics in the New Year's honours list as "little short of staggering".
England's Ashes-winning cricket team were all honoured but Liverpool, who fought back from 3-0 down against AC Milan to win the final in Istanbul last May in dramatic fashion, were overlooked.
Parry, in his column in Liverpool's official magazine, said: "The decision to overlook key Liverpool players from the New Year's Honours list, despite our magnificent achievement in winning the world's most prestigious club tournament, was frustrating to say the least.
"It raises a simple question: just what do you have to do in a football sense to be recognised by the powers that be?"

WEDNESDAY 11
Agger passes Anfield medical
Brondby centre-back Daniel Agger has passed his medical and is now awaiting for clearance to officially complete his transfer to Liverpool.
The paperwork still hasn't been sealed but that should surely just be a formality now.
So too should the signing of his contract with the player having already agreed personal terms.
Neither Liverpool Football Club or Brondby have confirmed the latest developments but something should be forthcoming tomorrow if not before.

Olsen: Liverpool are signing a top-class player
Denmark head coach Morten Olsen believes Daniel Agger will prove to be a good signing for Liverpool.
The 21-year-old defender has completed his medical ahead of his proposed transfer to Anfield for a fee of around £5.8million and Olsen says it will be money well spent.
Olsen said: "He is confident about what he can do at the moment - he still has something to learn and he has a good mentality and if he goes to Liverpool I can only say they will have a top-class player.
"He certainly has to play 25 games because only in that way will he become a better player, and he is only 21 so he is not a player for the bench.
"Of course he has got to accept he maybe cannot play in the first team in every game but I am sure he will show that he is a top-class player.
"This is a good move for Daniel Agger and for the Danish national team because the Premier League is a top-class league."

Reds agree deal for Agger
Liverpool have agreed a deal with Brondby for Daniel Agger, with the defender on Merseyside to undergo a medical.
The European champions have held a long-term interest in the Denmark international as Rafa Benitez looks to add a centre half to his squad.
Benitez has now advanced that admiration after The Reds agreed a deal in principle with Agger's club Brondby.
"Daniel is a player we have been following for a long time," Benitez told
the Liverpool Echo.

King back for Saturday
Spurs skipper Ledley King who has been suffering with a groin strain was expected to miss four weeks with the injury he picked up against Birmingham City on Boxing day. Today however he has not ruled himself out of the game against Liverpool on Saturday.
“I am hopeful I might be back in the squad for the Liverpool game. I have only just started to run in the last two days, but my injury feels okay and I don't think my fitness has suffered too much. If I can build it up more throughout the week then hopefully I can be involved on Saturday. The signs are good at the moment.”

Mannix out for rest of season
Reserve midfielder David Mannix is unlikely to play again this season after breaking his leg.
Mannix, who has been impressing reserve coaches Hugh McAuley and Paco Herrera since his return to reserve action after a previous long injury lay-off, broke his leg while playing for the second string against Newcastle on Monday night.
Mannix in unlikely to require surgery but the injury is still likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

Rafa set for Pongolle talks
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is set for talks over Florent Sinama-Ponoglle's future.
The young Frenchman proved his worth to the Anfield club by spearheading a stunning FA Cup comeback win at Luton on Saturday night.
Brought on as a second-half substitute, he netted twice as the Reds turned a 3-1 deficit into a thrilling 5-3 victory.
Pongolle sees his long-term future as being on Merseyside despite the lack of starting opportunities this season.
And Benitez now wants talks with the striker.
He told Liverpool's official website: "We have to come to a decision which is good for him and good for the club. I will be talking to him about the situation, we'll analyse it together and then decide what the best solution is.
"Sometimes with young players it's better if they play regularly, but if we keep winning games and stay in the FA Cup and Champions League then we will play more matches and need more players.
"The important thing from my point of view is that Flo is working really hard. In the week before the Luton game I was very happy with how he was performing in training and I knew he was ready to play. He's a player who can give us different options and he proved that at the weekend."

Agger preparing to head to Spain
Liverpool target Daniel Agger has been selected for international duty with the Denmark Under-21 side and has been told he must attend the two-week training camp in Chile throwing further doubts over his proposed move to Anfield.
Agger will fly to Spain on Wednesday for a training camp with his club Brondby and will then travel on to Chile on Monday to team up with his international team-mates. The Denmark Under-21 side are also scheduled to play three friendly matches during the get together. As a result he isn't expected to return to Brondby until 29th January.
Despite all the setbacks, Liverpool remain confident that they will secure the player's service during the current transfer window. Even his coach Michael Laudrup has admitted the player looks certain to leave.

Alves dreams of Reds transfer

Sevilla winger Daniel Alves has expressed his dismay at being denied a dream move to Liverpool.
The European champions had a recent €12 million (£8 million) bid for the Brazilian rejected by his Spanish club.
The situation has exasperated Alves, who readily acknowledges his desire to play for a major club.
"It is true," said Alves of Liverpool's reported bid.
"I know of Liverpool's interest, and that of other European clubs, but it all depends on Sevilla.
"I am an ambitious person and, although I am happy in Sevilla, my objective is to play for a great club to help me be with the Brazil team.
"No director from Liverpool has spoken with me, but I am happy because a European champion is a great club."
Sevilla's president Jose Maria Del Nido conceded it would take more than Liverpool's original offer to prise Alves away from the club.
Del Nido commented: "Daniel has a major price."

Garcia injury latest
Liverpool's Luis Garcia is hoping to shake off his knee injury in time for the visit of Tottenham this weekend.
Garcia missed Saturday's 5-3 win over Luton Town due to the injury which has been niggling him since the Bolton match.
Although a concern, the injury isn't serious and manager Rafael Benitez hopes to have him available for selection at the weekend. Much will depend though on how his knee reacts to treatment and training this week.

Mannix was stretchered off during the match and the club have confirmed today that the player has suffered a break in his right leg.

Mellor can talk to Hearts

Liverpool have given permission for striker Neil Mellor to speak to Hearts about a move north of the border, according to the player's agent Mick McGuire.
Mellor, who scored in the reserves' 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Monday night, has had knee surgery and has not played for the first team since their infamous third-round FA Cup exit to Burnley almost a year ago.
His name has been linked with the Bank of Scotland Premier League side for a number of weeks, but it appears the situation has now moved on.
"Hearts are very interested in Neil and they have spoken to Liverpool about him," McGuire told www.skysports.com.
"I spoke to (chief executive) Rick Parry, and Liverpool have given Neil permission to speak to Hearts about a potential move.
"Neil is keeping an open mind on his future and he is happy to go up and talk to Hearts.
"There has been interest from several other clubs, and Neil is weighing up his options. He is not ruling out staying at Liverpool, because he still has a contract there."

Rafa reveals Depor interest
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed his interest in Deportivo La Coruna duo Fabricio Coloccini and Cesar.
Benitez is keen to bolster his squad during this month's transfer window and has not hidden his desire to bring in a new central defender.
A number of players have been linked with Liverpool including Brondby's Daniel Agger and Benitez has now revealed Coloccini and Cesar are on his list of targets.
"We need to fortify the centre of the defence and we are considering four or five options," Benitez told La voz de Galicia.
"We have targeted Coloccini and Cesar of Deportivo La Coruna and we are just about to obtain if they want to sell."

Liverpool linked with Diana
Liverpool are believed to have turned their attentions to Italian international Aimo Diana as they search for a new midfielder.
Reports emanating from Italy claim Liverpool have made an offer for the Sampdoria star.
Liverpool are in the market for a right-sided midfielder with Rafa Benitez scouring the transfer market since last summer for a player to fill the problematic position.
It seems likely that Liverpool are set to miss out on top target Simao Sabrosa with Benfica keen to keep the Portuguese international.
The European champions are now thought to be considering a move to lure Diana
to Anfield.

Bolanos released from trial
Liverpool have released Christian Bolanos after the midfielder spent a week on trial at the club's Melwood training base.
Rafael Benitez decided to take a look at the 21-year-old after he impressed during the Club World Championship in Japan last month.
Bolanos scored during the tournament and was part of the side that had been defeated 3-0 by the Reds in the semi-final.
The player has now returned to his club in Costa Rica after failing to secure a permanent deal.
"He did well in his time at the club but we decided he was not exactly the type of player we were looking for at the moment," a Liverpool spokesman told the Daily Post.

Staunton handed Republic manager's
job in tandem with old hand Robson

Steve Staunton yesterday agreed to become Ireland's manager. The former Liverpool and Aston Villa player is set to form a management team alongside Sir Bobby Robson in an attempt to lead Ireland to qualification for Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
The pair were in advanced negotiations last night, though the Football Association of Ireland had been hoping to keep the news quiet before announcing the appointments at the end of this week or possibly early next week. Staunton will be offered a four-year contract, with the FAI considering a two-year deal for Robson, who has yet to give his complete agreement to take on the role.
Staunton joined Liverpool in September 1986 from Dundalk. He enjoyed two spells at Aston Villa, between 1991 and 1998 and 2000 and 2003, returning to Anfield in 1998-2000. The 36-year-old has also played for Bradford and Crystal Palace on loan, Coventry and Walsall.

Mellor on the mark but Reserves lose
Neil Mellor continued his comeback from injury for Liverpool Reserves and scored an excellent goal but a late defensive error saw the Reds lose 2-1 to Newcastle United at a freezing Kingston Park.
Mellor took just 11 minutes to open the scoring for the Reds. Running onto Paul Anderson's through ball he held off the defender superbly before producing a deadly finish into the bottom corner of the net for 1-0. It was his second goal in two reserve starts following his return from a year out through injury.
Newcastle then equalised and scored the winner seven minutes from time after a defensive mistake. David Raven's back pass only found Chris Farman who got to the ball before Reds keeper Paul Willis and scored. It was a somewhat bizarre goal but one that should never really have been conceded.
There was also an injury scare for Liverpool as midfielder David Mannix was stretchered off with a leg injury after a 50-50 challenge in midfield. The central midfielder has had his fair share of injury problems in the past and was taken to hospital after the match for a scan to determine the extent of the injury.
Liverpool Reserves: Willis, Raven (Smith 85), Barragan, Roque, Antwi, Hobbs, Anderson, Peltier, Mellor (Calliste 71), Mannix (Idrizaj 63), Guthrie. Subs not used: Roberts, O'Donnell.
